ALL THINGS ARE DIFFICULT BEFORE THEY ARE EASY

Look around and stop for a second, the most wisdom things are right in front of your nose…

Though we are too involved in many unimportant chores that forgot to be able to recognize the most obvious…

Somewhere, something I am thinking of…

New projects, new images, new ideas until I can, until I enjoy…

Until my territory is unrestricted…

I would like to make all things simplier!

Love you all,

Yours Film Director

Sunday Photo Quiz

My cute Friends, the best way to relax at Sunday evening is to look at these photos and answer me “what does you see?”:

my-goal-0611

“Anyone whose goal is ‘something higher’ must expect someday to suffer vertigo. What is vertigo? Fear of falling? No, Vertigo is something other than fear of falling. It is the voice of the emptiness below us which tempts and lures us, it is the desire to fall, against which, terrified, we defend ourselves.” (Milan Kundera)

“You cannot score a goal when you are sitting on the bench. To do so, you have to dress up and enter the game.” (Israelmore Ayivor)

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Best of Summer

“Summertime is always the best of what might be.” (Charles Bowdan)

Recalling summer days is the most rewarding activity. It brings a broad smile to my face and a playful sparkle to my eyes. I felt a surge to reproduce the best of my summer and demonstrate it to you. I do miss my summer. It occurred to me that I did not say goodbye to the hot season when everything or anything is possible. So now let me tell you, dear Miss Summer, a couple of warm words.

anro-presents

“Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to quiet people. For those few months, you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are, and that cut-grass smell in the air and the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool give you a courage you don’t have the rest of the year. You can be grateful and easy, with no eyes on you, and no past. Summer just opens the door and lets you out.” ―Deb Caletti

sunset-paints-the-sky

Summer does open the door to the brightest world ever. There you can enjoy the longest days and shortest nights, you can taste a variety of fruits and vegetables, and you can relax and let yourself being silly. Sometimes summer might be a bit wearisome due to extremely high temperatures that drank the water from our bodies. During such period our brain melts and we feel not so happy. All we need then is to leave everything and escape to some perfect place where the body and mind will dance in harmony.

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”―John Lubbock

swimming-to-orange-sunset

The place for being idle found me and I could not resist its beauty and calmness. My feet freely walked on the grass, between apple trees and flowers. My eyes caught the joyful glimpses of sunrise and sunset. My hands touched the gifts of the generous season. My mind was emptied from any thoughts. Or perhaps these thoughts were so natural that they were invisible or unreadable. A pretty awesome feeling when your mind is easy and light as a summer butterfly.

“But when fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you.”― Stephen King

As Far As Close

Pine Greens

http://www.redbubble.com/people/anrostudio/works/22546490-pine-greens

I want to stand as close as I can to many things and be able to notice even the tiniest detail. Often it’s the details that together make a magnificent whole. In this picture the magnificent whole is the mountain covered with snow and awakened green grass, and the detail is the branch of a pine tree that is visible only in zooming. There is a big distance between them, they are as far and as close – two creations of Mother Nature. Only mountains are big enough to be caught, while a little branch is enough small to be overlooked. Similar to life. Due to daily problems circling around “how to earn, where to spend less” we miss a lot of things that are right in front of us. For instance, this little branch of pine tree whose green color touches up the picture of our being! Friends, let us not miss the details and enjoy everything that is so far and so close as well! For example, my Friday card designed specially for you! Give me a hint if you like it! Grateful in advance!

“Life is not a plot; it’s in the details.”
Jodi Picoult

When Ann and Mountains Meet

Mountains Forest

It’s not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” (Sir Edmund Hillary)

Everybody has its own mountain to conquer, so does Ann. How high it is? She did not know until she faced this one. The highest she has ever imagined. As if this Mountain has eyes, it would look at her and think “Hey, you are so small there!”. It would be right to compare this Mountain with her Dream, they are both impossible to reach. They are both too distant and powerful, Ann feels so tiny next to them and yet so devoted to. They both have a huge control over her life and her being. They dictate their rules and invade her space. Ann cannot be perfectly content without both of them. She will suffer a lot and still enjoy its sweet meeting with her Teachers of Life…

“Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and wise people. Everything – even mountains, rivers, plants and trees – should be your teacher.” (Morihei Ueshiba)

Let us go out and learn something new today!

My best Friday wishes and postcard for you: http://www.redbubble.com/people/anrostudio/works/22545179-mountains-forest?p=greeting-card&card_size=postcard

P.S. Have you ever met the Mountains?

PhotoThoughts Abroad: ZAKOPANE

Poland is the neighbor country to the west of Kyiv which influence has spread all over. A long border line separates nation’s minds and makes them feel strangers. What does it mean being Ukrainian? Or being Polish? Can you look for the meaning in your vocabulary? Certainly not. However, you will find the meaning for the “citizenship” and that is what exactly important. Belonging to the Planet, World, and Universe. We need to be part of something, always, as loneliness can kill us. That is why I refuse to accept borders between countries, language barriers and mind blockades. I would like to get as close as possibly to life without any of them and understand why we still remain different mentally and so identical physically. There is a strong wish to inhale this beautiful city and print it in my soul!

Polska Symbols

PhotoThought 1: Main Scenes

Welcome to Zakopane

I hope you are not tired of my postcards yet (I see your little cunning grimaces). I am not tired of designing them for you in some crazy hope that one day you might need them. It is also a terrific way to gather several photos at once and create a new common picture. The same as assembling a puzzle. Every piece takes its right place. And you look at the entire picture differently, right? The same when I look at the picture above. This is the collective image of Polish city called Zakopane. A very nice city situated in the southern part of Poland almost at the border between Slovakia and Poland attracts every hiker’s attention. You will find there so many routes to walk and so many breathtaking views to capture. In my postcard I decided to focus on little details such as local parks, monuments, and houses. They do not belong to the main attractions, however, they represent local habits and traditions better. Seeing these scenes brings me closer to Polish culture and people. I am eager to catch its specific mountain atmosphere. Air is different here; nature is different as well as atmosphere. It is a typical mountain city where tourism is the most popular occupation. A number of hotels, villas, cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops goes off scale. It is a real tourist resort crowded most of the time. However, there are some narrow streets that can draw the curtain and let you peep through secret hole. Then you are lucky to observe a completely different picture!

PhotoThought 2: Mountains

White Mountains

Only mountains can be better than the mountains.  This is the love from the first breathe. Air in the mountains is fresh and intoxicating.

It is always the same with mountains. Once you have lived with them for any length of time, you belong to them. There is no escape.’ (Ruskin Bond)

And you would not like to escape from them, you prefer staying there forever, just to look at them endlessly. Here there is no time, no distance, no hurry, only they and I. There is almost intimate bond between us. This is a teaser for you, my little Friends, as I made a lot of pictures about mountains and so many breathtaking views.  Be patient!

PhotoThought 3: Countryside

Zakopane walks

In this postcard I am particularly fond of two goats: white and black. Aren’t they look cute? A couple or two family members. They seem to be curious about me and my camera. I can’t stand not taking a snap of them.  I suppose they suit the entire atmosphere perfectly…

I saw rivers, small houses, fields and gardens. This city is very different from any mountain city in Ukraine. It is visible that people here live much better. While sitting in the local cafe I saw Polish happy faces and felt a bit envy. Please forgive me for being too honest with you, but I wish I could see my Ukrainians the same happy and free one day. Surely, my country is not that hopeless and if everyone does its best it can be really changed for the better, however, it will be a long way. And I would not like to wait so much. Unfortunately, I am a realist as well and see not too much positive. In fact people, my Ukrainians, do surprise me every day with their indifference and rudeness. Even worse, they make me also being indifferent and rude…and that scares me the most!

PhotoThought 4: Houses

How about sit comfortably in these red chairs and enjoy the…houses? I confess I have never seen such a gorgeous and unusual style. These houses drew my attention at once. I could not go by without shooting them. And those windows with colorful flowers and designed yards. Owners prove they are skillful at design. They are proud of beautifully decorated yards. As you may see almost all houses are wooden, a distinctive sign of the mountain region. It brings us back in time: when people could not afford themselves anything better than a humble wooden house. They made their houses from wood found in forests. There were too many forests at those times. On the contrary, nowadays these mansions are a privilege for people with impressive bank accounts. I would not refuse to settle in one of them and you? Just imagine a romantic scene near your fireplace…hmm…I bet you won’t refuse!

Houses in Zakopane

And now tell me something interesting about the city where you live. I am hungry for your comments, impressions and stories. Only one problem – this time I cannot promise you any reward, since your writer was not so successful recently. In my heart I would like to present you something every time you share with me your wonderful story, but I have no good sponsor or investor…yet.

In case you have no good idea what to present your friends or you need to find something special for somebody, here is the link to my designs available for you:

Also if you like any of my postcards design, but in your head you imagine your own photos in them, please let me know and I will design for you.  I am also eager to help to design some special card for any special occasion. Give me a hint in the comment or in twitter ann021814 (facebook Ann AnRo) and I’ll contact you as soon as possible!

Stay in tune! To be continued…

Happy weekend, my little Friends!

Yours Ann

P.S. As I was writing this post world has gone crazy… I have friends from France and I am in deep grief with them. One day France, the other night Turkey…I am lack of appropriate words…just a wish for all of us not to loose being wisdom!

Uptown Amenities

Summer Scene

In the end of the every working week Ann seizes the opportunity of the escape from a big city. To change the atmosphere, stop running around like a squirrel in a cage, relax and breathe. I guess it is not a bad idea. But be assured I won’t go anywhere without my Nikki. We are always in the same boat. Where I go, he goes. He has a mission, he provides me with beautiful scenes captured to share with you…

Time To Enjoy

When I go out into the countryside and see the sun and the green and everything flowering, I say to myself Yes indeed, all that belongs to me!  ~Henri Rousseau

Countryside life is in trend nowadays. People awakened to the realization that having your own private house is much comfortable and prestigious as well. As who would like to live “under constant pressure of neighbors thin walls”. No one, right! Therefore people are in search of their sanctuary to cling to. Surely not all of them, or vice versa who will stay in that multistory boxes and will spend most of their money on attractions in local parks? Yep, local businesses won’t survive such a loss. Although sometimes (more often than you can imagine) I feel quite irritated while walking home though the corridor of park attractions starting from “have a ride” locomotive driving around not too big park to food tents selling unhealthy stuff. You practically have to maneuver not to touch anything or catch anything. I do not mention electrical cars for children, since none of the drivers have a driving license yet, you hardly can avoid a collision. Surely I admire young driving ladies in pink dresses who look charmingly behind the wheel, but oh my, ladies, please follow the rules of traffic. However, I am not sure that older ladies (still in the same pink, but on high heels) driving range rovers have already learn the rules. Please do not take anything personal, dames, but sometimes I wonder whether SHE learnt anything in a driving school or she just painted her nails instead. Driving is not a joke, your mistake can be fatal. By the way, men, don’t think that I forgot about you, you also drive not better! No offense! I am afraid I was brought in the wrong direction. We are not in the city now, but outside, in the uptown…so turn on the volume, relax your brain muscles and enjoy colors, sounds, smells, tastes…

Uptown Scenes

Exhilarate the spirit, and restore
The tone of languid nature.

Summer in 3D

All of a sudden you occurred to be in this field of blooming colors. So many things delight your eyes. The translucent beauty of a green leaf, the lazy drone of a bee as it searched for a tempting little wildflower, the musical calls of the birds in the trees, the blue coolness of the lake, funny mooing of the cows, secret whispers of the wind and utterly overwhelming points where sky meets land. Absolutely blinding!

Flowertime

However, you might notice the other picture as well. Something left behind all the beauty. I mean countryside life is not only all that “wows” and “bubbles”, but also hard work. Kyiv uptown lives its own life different from the big city. Every village outside Kyiv has its own style and soul. Most of them look like compact closed societies with rules and no exit for strangers. You have to be attentive to them and try to follow the wave. Villagers are not fond of citiers, they consider us to belong to another class. I know it sounds odd, but it is. I have relatives who live in the village and I feel the barrier. Maybe for you it really sounds strange, but I am not kidding. Perhaps I should clarify that Ukrainian villages have their own history opposite to Western European.  Mildly saying “living in a village was not prestigious”. Many years ago a typical Ukrainian village had one street, shop, one small hospital, a market and a club, that’s all. Thus, when a villager happened to be in a big city with metro and a chain of various shops (not to mention number of streets), theaters and etc., he/she was like a tourist in a completely unknown country. Would you believe it? It is a fact. The only entertainment for villagers was gossiping while sitting at the benches next to their houses. Everybody knows everyone and it is scareful. There is a wish to be not noticed, don’t count on that in a village. There is everywhere a lady who watches you. Surely, it can be beneficial as well. People are more friendly and helpful. Air is cleaner and birds singing louder. Uptown is a little fortress where almost every new life starts, then it grows bigger, need more place and travels beyond. Nothing lasts for a long time, neither relax, nor work. There will be always a point, a dot or …

Spring is a romantic time of year!

 KISSES IN THE LILAC BUSHES

Today in the heading “Let Us Have Fun” I would like to kiss you…are not you surprised? You should be, as I am planning to overwhelm and confuse you, although I am not sure it will be successful, since I can be even more confused. Anyway, who do not like talking about kisses? Hands up! No, I do not see your hands. Thus, you do like it. Every person remembers his/her first kiss. It is the most innocent and sweet reminiscence of youth. Who will refuse to get back the time and enjoy it to the full? That’s it! In our modern almost ugly world we seem to be lack of that first feelings and emotions. We are so thirsty. Therefore, I decided to use my magical mouse and plunge into the unknown world of honeyed kisses (or with another flavor) accompanied with my lilac photos!

Stay in touch!.jpg

Did you know that the word “kiss” origins from the old English cyssan, which is from the proto-Germanic word “kussijanan” stemming from the sound kissing makes. Let us try. Make yourself comfortably in a chair, relax, stretch out your lips, and close your eyes…oh, almost forgot, did you refresh your breath? Then go ahead to the bathroom, use some mouth liquid or just brush your teeth. Great! (Why I want to write “Ready! Steady! Go!” it is not a racing or is it?). Oh my! So here it is the moment when you, my dear readers, and I will share our first kiss. We have a noble purpose, we need to check whether we are able to reproduce this sound or not. Not because you like me. It is not that I am not attractive or you are. It is just because we do not know well each other and…muah (at this exact moment some strange lips from my big screen suddenly covered mine). Wow! Not bad! But, sweetheart, sound was completely another. Therefore, theory is theory, and in practice everything sounds different! One more thing: sugar, why did you use your tongue? Bad Boy! Aha, I guess you just wanted to make me change the subject! No problem!

DSCN7828

“Kissing is passion and romance, and what keeps people together,” says Michael Cane, author of The Art of Kissing. The first recorded kiss is in the early Vedic scriptures, dating around 1500BC. It describes people as sniffing with their mouths. I guess ancient people were smarter than we are. Kissing is not only an emotional pleasure, unity of two souls, but also very healthy. Among the benefits of a good kiss: that extra saliva washes bacteria off your teeth, which can help break down oral plaque, says Mathew Messina, DDS, a private practice dentist in Fairview Park, Ohio, and consumer advisor for the American Dental Association. “Still, I would not go around advocating kissing after meals instead of brushing,” he says. See, guys, brushing cannot be replaced with kissing. Do not be lazy and remember that hygiene is at the first place. Also, be aware of the fact that fresh breath helps to make this moment more romantic. Nobody will kiss a person whose breath needs a good cleaning service. Moreover, kissing might even help you lose weight.  During a really passionate kiss, you might burn two calories a minute. Great? We can cross our morning exercises out, better let us kiss. One more fact, kissing helps us release tension and stress. When you come after work, grab your wife or husband and give him/her a hot kiss, result will not wait you long. In case there is nobody at home, kiss your dog or cat or your TV screen, anything you will find, but do it and you will feel better. I know that this is not the same; however, there can be different situations.

There is always hope!.jpg

After kissing almost everything you found around, I would like to offer you a break and check something. I decided to make a study on different types of kisses. There are plenty of ways how you can kiss each other. Here I need extra help, I Googled a bit. It is said that every kiss is a talk of two souls (or more) and it differs from the next one. Can I be honest with you? My favorite kiss is the forehead kiss. Somebody can call me silly and girlish, and I agree with you. But, little fellows, this kiss means a lot, since it symbolizes true friendship and innocent intimacy. If you touch your partner’s forehead with your lips it means you completely trust each other. As if the bond you share is practically unbreakable! Then, I am a fan of cheek kiss; it is the most innocent and intriguing at the same time. Who does not know French kiss? One of the hottest and most difficult kisses. This type of kiss is very easy to execute but it may take years to master. Is there an expert among you? The single lip kiss is also a very exciting one. If done in the correct manner, this kiss can send a strong romantic signal to you partner. Lingering lip kiss is a closed mouth kiss that lasts for more than 20 seconds. Lingering lip kisses involve the lips only. This kiss serves as an indication of deep love. I was surprised to hear that there is a lizard kiss, wow! It is done in quick strokes. The lizard kiss is usually practiced just for fun. Oh, there are so many more, but I feel that it is better to stop here or some of us need a bucket of cold water! Let us cool down a bit. Topic is too hot, please switch on some fan! Not to mention Katy Perry’s “I kissed a girl and I liked doing it”…wow, it is really getting hot here!

Lilac Chat.jpg

In conclusion I would like to introduce you a Kissenger. Singapore-based company Lovotics has created a range of robotic kissing toys that allow long-distance lovers to transfer kisses over the internet. The strange creatures – called Kissengers – look like little spherical pigs and have an artificial mouth that provides “the convincing properties of a real kiss”. The idea is that you’d be Skyping your loved one and, when the moment takes you, you’d pick up your Kissenger and lock lips. Be quick – the amount is limited! Muah!

Yours Ann

Mental Food Click

White Bloom.jpg

When you are under stress, pay particular attention to the need to nourish your soul with good foods. That is what I am planning to do now. I would like to feed you, my little Readers. Be good, put your business deeds aside, switch off your brain and let us think about art. I sit on the edge of your chair and we will have a small chat.

Bright Land

Money kills art. A real art. Probably you are wasting your talent somewhere in the office, because you have to pay your bills. You need to eat and feed your family. Your job is not where you can be creative. In fact, it can even kill any desire in you to create anything. It is a sad truth. You cannot let yourself always dream, since our biological clock ticks constantly without any stop (only if the battery goes wrong). Time does not stop. Hardly you can let yourself fly in the sky and dream what if, what if? You also may not have enough money to start doing what you like the most. If you are a musician, you need nice instruments and equipment. I live in a big city and use public transport every day, very often I meet musicians who play for money in transport or at streets. They are really great guys, very talented and professional. But who will sponsor them, who will invest in them, find them a good agent who can advertise them and show how everything works. Chances that some business man will be passing by and hear them are very few, as rich people do not go by public transport. Therefore, what else is left? It can be a pretty good practice for them as well. The more they practice, the better they sound. However, where does it bring them? Yeah, they are likely to earn some bucks and can have some fun; nevertheless, they are forced to come back to reality, ugly reality! The same happens with many photographers, film-directors, artists, actors, screen-players, writers, poets and many others.

Branched Tree

After being rejected by the world, you are still trying to find some happiness in real life. You play your songs for friends at parties. You make some photos while walking in the park. You write stories and share them at social networks. Sweet attempts of big dreamers to catch a glorious moment that can make us alive and free. Creative people are so weird. They hardly enjoy simple things. They always need more. Are you familiar with this feeling? Then, welcome to our League! Hopeless dreamers who believe in wonders! It is often said that the great dreamers are nice, but they are far from the world (or more bluntly, they would do well to land, one day). I wish I could bet, but I am not sure now! The more I look at the world, the less I understand. It works wrong and somehow not fair. At such desperate moments I need to have a break…

At The Peak.jpg

And go out. I need some fresh air for my too fast working brain. I am following my instinct, I am heading closer to nature. We are all the children of nature. Nature gives us extra energy and makes us feel better. Thus, I am here, in my park, where I like walking a lot. Weather is amazing, everything is blooming. There so many different colors that I am lack of right words to describe. But I am so happy like a child. My Nikki (photocamera) is with me, sitting in my hands, and I am smiling and excited because I will make a picture, no, I will make a lot of pictures. Several seconds before I was on the urge of big sadness, and now look at me – I am a bouncing ball. Here, at small piece of territory I feel myself like at home, which I know like the back of my hand. You also have such a place, your own shelter where you creative spirit feels the best, right? Tell me more about this place? Do not be shy! Such perfect places make us who we are. They change our dreams to reality!

Tulip Fever & Postcards Stories

Slow Down and Enjoy Your Life

Slow down and enjoy your life. It’s not only the security you miss by going too fast, but also where you are going and why.

Photohunting helps me to slow down and enjoy the moment I am chasing for. An every day almost routine life is too hectic and busy, you are lucky one to grab a minute and think about anything important or even silly, why not? Being able to do it I found myself staring at beautiful images of postcards. It seems to me that postcards have not their best time, since in the era of Internet who needs them. Why should we go to bookstore to pick up a postcard when we can easily do it with one mouse click? Moreover, why should we spend money on it? Postcards or greeting cards for every occasion are available for free in web. It is a pity, indeed. Since there is no link between you and a postcard anymore, you do not do it alone, there is an intermediary between you and your choice. And I even do not mention that fact that we forgot how to hold a pen in our hands, everything is typed. However, how about the originality of each handwriting? Typed letters look the same.  Yeah, there is much to ponder!

Painted Tulips

In 1861, John Charlton of Philadelphia created the first private postal card, called “Lipman’s Postal Card, Patent Applied For.” Government postcards came into the market in 1873. Postcards were novelties because of the pictures and designs that they used. In 1906, Eastman Kodak made a camera called the “Folding Pocket Camera” to create postcards out of photographs. Postcards were not used during World War I, as Germany was one of the main producers of postcards, and there were potential problems such as influenza epidemics spreading across country borders. However, advancing print technology brought about a new age of postcards after World War II. Postcards began to be printed in color, depicting pictures, historical buildings, national parks and exotic sceneries.

Tulips As Art .jpg

Will you believe that there was even “postcarditis” infection caught by many people in the world? Every town, city, and state had their own promotional card; every family counting itself among the middle or upper classes displayed on the parlor table an album bulging with different images.  They believed that their city is the most beautiful!

Tulip and Sunshine.jpg

Every postcard is unique, especially made on your own. Many of you, my Friends, are very talented and professional photographers who make excellent shots, thus your wonderful photos can be easily put into a postcard frame and delivered around the world. It is a good marketing tool. A postcard is better than something in an envelope.  People are fast. We see and read very quickly – actually much more quickly than we even realize. With a postcard, even if prospects throw it away, they already saw your message regardless of whether they think they did or not. They saw it enough to either throw it away or keep it or respond to it.

Trio of Tulips

How many times a usual postcard or a greeting card was used to show your gratitude. Countless. It was long ago before Internet existed. Certainly it took a long way to send a postcard to anyone, but imagine happy faces when the postmen deliver an envelope or a package with something inside…

Strips Tulip

How can you be content to be in the world like tulips in a garden, to make your every day bright and be good for nothing…

Life is Beautiful

Hugs to all of you!

Yours Ann
