Autumn ūüćā Fibers

Autumn fibers were penetrating his body and teasing his mind with deep thoughts. Today he meets fall season alone. Jeremey could not stay at home at this shining September Saturday, he felt desperate for getting out and grab a piece of life. Among trees you can’t feel yourself fooled by people who always use you for favors and never befriend with you without second thought. While sitting in the cozy gazebo Jerey’s sensitive soul is in shelter from money eyes. He never took life easy and never for granted, but cruelty and heartless always amazed him to despair. Jerey knew you come to this life only once – every minute must be filled with love and respect to the slightest amazing detail. Though his eyes saw the opposite and his ears were ringing like alarm ūüĒĒ. Every book, every life story, every motion, every wish and every breathe find the same way towards profit. Classic and dangerous theme with slippery road where everyone drives crazily without rules. Jerey possessed a blessed sense of observation, he loved to collect the life moments. He always followed the river direction, never turned against. Franny, his wife, sometimes did not understand him fully, but she was in love with his emotional look at life. Her hubby was gifted. He did not write his books, he actually lived them. Jerey Writer was happy when his words seated comfortably in his head. A passionate writer and lover of life, he made love with his thoughts. Yet sometimes he wanted them more than her, and she get accustomed to it. Fran found her own delights – she painted and made love with her colors. Her painting brush made her blush, there were no prohibited strokes. Two artistic souls were together and, at the same time, each of them alone – happy in their own created worlds. They felt odd being humans, he wanted to become his printing buttons, while she – her painting brush…

You Won’t Drink More Than a Bucket of Horilka

There is a good Ukrainian proverb that “man is not a cow, he won’t drink more than a bucket of horilka“. Isn’t it funny! Can you drink a bucket of horilka? I bet, you won’t be… otherwise you will be walking out of my kitchen horizontally, or will be staying there till tomorrow as minimum, but in the morning during breakfast you might receive a new glass of horilka to help you deal with hangover and then everything repeats. So, be careful it is a tricky alcoholic beverage.

Horilka With Cucumber

As you may recognize the talk is today about traditional Ukrainian beverage- horilka (vodka in Ukrainian language). In my country, since we speak Ukrainian, we differentiate between vodka and horilka, let’s not mix them. It can be explosive!

I chose such a topic for my post, because many of you expressed a wish to hear about it. And you know that I cannot turn down your requests. Moreover, I thought that it might be pretty interesting to find out more about this well-known beverage. That’s why I prepare two glasses of horilka for you and waiting you to join me in this fascinating alcoholic trip.

Bottle

¬†Cheers (“Bud’mo” in Ukrainian), but I will probably say after something like “guys, how can you drink it? It’s awful?”. I should confess that I almost don’t drink any alcoholic beverage. I just don’t understand its taste. Sorry, folks, can’t do much. However, as a person who likes discovering this world I would like to find out where does horilka come from and what is behind…

Ancient

¬†The word ‘alcohol’ comes from the Arabic ‘al-kuhl’. Arabs borrowed the technology and carried it to western Europe. In western Europe, distilling alcohol from wine was practiced in Italy in the 11th century, but generally this was done secretly by alchemists. Distilled alcohol reached Poland probably from Germany in the 15th century and it is recorded that the term ‘wodka’ was known from at least 1534.¬† It is believed that distilled alcohol spread from Poland via Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine, and only then to Russia. So, see, my dear polish Friends, we should thank you for having horilka as one of our beloved spirits. Who is our Big Brother now! Niech Zyje, Polska! Na zdrowie!

Nalej Zdrowje

Our chronicle mentions that mead was brewed for the funeral wake which Princess Olga held for her husband. With the introduction of distillation flavored horilka appeared. In the 19th century a ‘nalyvka’ was made by steeping fruit in 25% horilka, while a ‘nastojanka’ (‘nastojka’) was made by steeping herbs and spices in a similar strength horilka. Later, when it became easier, sugar was added for sweetness. The term ‘nalyvka’ was also used for a type of sweet fruit wine made by fermenting fruit and berries without added water, but with sufficient sugar to provide a residual sweetness. This was naturally weakly alcoholic, and to increase the strength, horilka was added. A stronger variant, was called ‘spotykach’, the name derived from the Ukrainian verb ‘to tumble’. Who is the tumbler? Wow, I got to know so much new, friends. Even I feel a bit drunk from all this information and you? How about one more glass? Na zdorowja! (“for good health” in Ukrainian).

Two Glasses

You can be more surprised to hear that Ukrainians are very good at cooking homemade horilka, which is called “samogon”. I am sure you never heard this word before and have never tried samogon before. It can have a more tricky effect on you, since samogon can be even stronger. At once, I had a funny experience. I was much younger, at university yet. I went to a trip to Mountains for summer holidays. I had an infection spot in my mouth and it was painful. During celebration of Ukrainian Independence Day our company had horilka and since I usually don’t drink, they decided to seduce me in other way. They offered me not to drink it, but take a sip of horilka and keep it in my mouth to cure my infection. I followed their advice…don’t you guess what was the result? You are right, Ann felt drunk, eyes are funny, and I wanted to sing…la-la-la-la!

Candy and Glass

If you do not smile yet, then another story for you. Did you know that alcohol content in our horilka is measure with the help of nose? Nope, you are not mistaken. A usual human nose. Are you confused? It is pretty simple. There are three stages. First one – after drinking a sip of freshly brewed samohon your nose has not changed its color, at all, it means that samohon is not ready yet, it is too close to beer, concentration is too low. Second –¬† brewing longer and gain tasting, the tip of your nose gets pink just a bit similar to rosy cheeks of a young lady who is blushing. Third – after one more sip your nose is already red like a red-rip tomato, which means that alcohol concentration is almost the maximum. Samohon is ready to be served. Who is ready to taste?

Collage of Bottles

One more glass of horilka? Cheers…Nazdravlje! Sk√•l! Proost! Kippis! Sant√©! Prost! Eg√©szs√©gedre! Salute! Na zdrowie! Sa√ļde!¬†Noroc! Salud! –Ď—É–ī—Ć–ľ–ĺ! I have no idea I am a polyglot, after several glasses of horilka I started to speak so many languages. It is a magical liquid!!!

Apple Glasses Art

See you after one more glass! Happy Weekend!

Truly yours,

Ann

In the Rustle of Leaves

October Colors

¬†One Sunday morning when the sun shone less brightly, and the leaves of the trees, have already changed color for fall, swayed in the gentle breeze, I decided to have a walk with my photo jack-of-all-trades. And that’s what came out of it…

Sunny Leaves

Autumn is the brightest season, when the leaves change color from green to queer. Autumn comes and everything turns to be ‘pumpkin-spiced’.¬† The kind of silence where you can hear the rustle of leaves and the forest creak in the wind is nice. The kind of silence where you hear nothing. That is the perfect moment of harmony with nature. You dissolve in it fully.¬† Autumn is also a very positive time, am I right? Or not? Some of you who disagree is a person who prefers being blind. A question then arises ‚Äď what exactly do you see if your eyes are closed? I suppose it is quite dangerous to stroll through the streets in that way. I highly recommend you to open your beautiful deep-set eyes and look at this world. You actually may observe a colorful boom. So many bizarre undertones can be seen only at Fall. There is no count of them. All we have to do is admire, capture and keep them in our minds. This season offers an extremely rich color palette. Artists should just watch and imbibe: colors, sounds and smells.

Yellow-and-Blue

Can it really be only me who believes that autumn is more striking than spring. Indeed, first never been touched sprouts and buds cannot compete with yellow and stale leaves. Similar association occurs when you see a young girl and a mature woman. Moreover, a mature woman is like a fine wine, aged to perfection. The same happens with autumn leaves.

Stand as if rooted to the ground

In the rustle of autumn leaves I have more thoughts in my head then I could even hope to contend with. I need to let them come out. Exactly at that moment I find my notebook and comfortable chair, and start typing. At this instant I do not care what people think of me, whether anybody will like what I write and how I do it… I am alone with my thoughts. I give rein to them as I cannot keep them inside the dark closets of my soul. Here they come, watch out! I am steaming like a kettle. The sound is almost similar to autumn sonata about something painful. One of such painful topic is kindness…yes, yes, usual immense kindness. We come across it every day, when we see how people donate their last money to save somebody‚Äôs life (a person whom they have never seen before). Or when an old lady, who hardly moves, knits stockings for young soldiers. And when a young girl ‚Äď volunteer cooks soup and bakes sweet buns to feed a young soldier who defends his Motherland with the Kalashnikov gun is his hands. After several days she finds him in a hospital and stays next to him. A girl who is a stranger to him becomes his hope for happiness. But there is no end of Ukrainian wonders. This young girl marries this soldier…ceremony is very touching…the groom is in invalid chair…and at such minutes a true belief in humane kindness revives…good wins over evil and not only in movies. Love wins over pain, love brings new life. Cynics and pessimists become optimists and dreamers for whom life begins again…

Again I hear the known rustle of leaves while holding my camera tightly…I press the button… click…new colorful flash!

Fall of Leaves

Wish you kind and colorful weekend!

Yours Ann

All Roads Lead to … L’viv or Eros and Rose Delicious Date

Lviv Ice CreamEros woke up…this morning earlier. His dream-fantasy made him exhausted, his body and brain flooded with pleasure. He had been wrung like a sponge. He hardly stirred from his bed. Eros was curious why a short message on his birthday from someone he even does not know made him lose his head. His life was so calm and stable, he got used to his bachelor’s life and did not let himself feel so stressed over women. Eros could not let him feel so confused and so helpless. He took himself and his emotion in hand, had a very cold (almost icy) shower and came downstairs for breakfast. Eros Clumsy had a usual lovely breakfast chat with his mom as if nothing has happened. He deleted this strange message from his phone and went to work. He was decisive and refreshed, ready to immerse fully into his adorable work. As a senior computer administrator Eros has been dealing with many software tasks at the UK Council in Ukraine. He liked his job and did it very well. He even received a diplomatic status and moved from country to country. Dolly always followed his son and enjoyed every new designation. They learn new languages together and exchange experiences. When he came to his office he was smiling until he found out that today will not be the same as he get used it. Immediately he should go for a business trip to L’viv to install some software. Surely he was not against some summer trip to a very nice city, but somehow he felt odd about his new task for today. Maybe was something in the air or it was because of his sleepless night. Eros got to his car and started the engine…A few seconds later the door of the car burst open and a woman’s silhouette slowly slipped to the car saloon. As soon as he dropped his eyes on her Eros knew…she was Rose,¬† a flower or a woman whose late evening message turned his life upside down…

“Good day, Mr Clumsy! I am ready to go!” Rose said cheerfully, closed the door and took off her summer glasses. While arranging her things and mini-skirt she recognized that she did not hear any reply back. She turned her head and looked directly at him. And the picture she saw was impressive. Eros was sitting motionless like a frozen statue, his eyes wide open and he did not breathe…at least it seemed to her. This view made her feel uneasy, she thought that he might not feel himself well. She slowly touched his elbow.

“Is everything alright, Mr Eros”, – she asked worriedly. Eros suddenly became aware of her touches and words. He jerked back his arm and pressed on gas pedal. They journey to L’viv was in silence. In the city Rose and Eros had a strange conversation based on some jokes from Rose’s side, however, Eros was in his most awful mood. Moreover, when he found out that she will be his boss and that from now on he will work with her and that this is not exactly a business trip rather a test for him he understood that he¬† got caught…

Coffee Mine XIX Century

This is a picture of an entrance to a very famous Coffee Mine in L’viv, yeah, you did hear me right, a mine. This picture was made in XIX century. You may guess that it is not a real mine, since we know too well how coffee is made, it cannot be simply dug out from the ground. Otherwise everybody who has a plot can try his/her luck. The owners of this coffee shop are smart enough to make their future clients intrigued and believe me it works.

StrudelAnyway, whatever one may think, this is not a simple coffee shop, but a real museum of coffee and its production. Here a choice of coffee will surprise you a lot because it is very diverse and for all tastes. I even do not mention the deserts that are so yammi.

Every time Rose was in L’viv she cannot refuse herself a very small caprice – a cup of Benderivs’ka coffee with strudel and ice-cream. However, today she ordered ice-cream for Eros to cajole him at least a bit. His attitude and behavior were so cold, she could not imagine that. She knew how odd he was, but that was even beyond her expectations. Rose pined her hopes on the delicious flavor of ice-cream that must melt his heart (literary and figuratively).

Cups of Coffee

While they were siting and enjoying friendly atmosphere of this coffee mine Rose decided to try to find out what was wrong with him and she kindly asked him, “Eros, why are you so angry at me? Did I do something wrong? I confess that my style of testing my future employees is not so common and maybe even called unusual, but I prefer getting to know my colleagues in informal way, this is my know-how and…”, Eros abruptly stopped her with his gesture and quickly replied, “Miss Flower or…sorry, miss Rose, who can be happy to get such a strange message almost at midnight from an¬†unknown¬†person…it is not polite, did not your parents¬†teach you the manners?”

Oh, so that made you angry at me…I see” Rose made a sigh and smiled. “Then why do not you get your belt and give me a spanking?

“Very funny, miss Spice”, shortly admitted Eros and stared at her. She was too beautiful like from his dream, so he cannot be angry at her, but he was not ready to leave his guard off. He knew that as soon as he let her in he would not have peace in his life.¬†

Coffee Pots

This coffee mine is a kind of shop as well. Here you can find very nice cups and kettles.

Lions Everywhere

You should remember that L’viv is a city of lions, so lions will follow you everywhere whenever you go.¬†It is said, Lviv, or as it is often called Lemberg, reminds Prague, Vienna or Krakow by its atmosphere. This is a city where every street, every cobblestone retains its legend. His majestic name tells a rich history of the city.¬†According to legends of the old chronicles, Lviv was founded by Prince Danylo Galician and named a city after his son Leo Danylovych. However, citizens love to tell another romantic legend about the origin of the city.
Once upon a time, near the high mountains around the area of future Lviv city there were small villages. The mountains were covered with forests, where farmers successfully hide from attacks of enemies. But once a luck turned away from them – people began to disappear. It was found out that they were stolen by the king of beasts – the lion. He lies in wait for those who dare to walk alone in the wood, stun them by a big paw and eats victims in his cave. Panic swept all the villages in the district.
Once in the tavern appeared a brave knight, who promised to kill the predator. He asked to forge so strong sword and armor that none force could break or bend it. Village blacksmiths worked all day and night long without a break, but in vain. It seemed as inevitable bad luck.
A traveler who got lost somewhere has come to tavern to eat. He said he knew how to conquer the beast. Let all the young girls prick a little finger by needles, drop  two or three drops of blood to a common Chan, where weapons and armor should be dipped.
The farmer did it. And the lion‚Äôs fangs and claws could not do anything with enchanted armor. Then mighty cut a head of furious lion by magic sword and exclaimed¬† “People you are free!”.¬† Since then, the mountain where this story has happened was¬† called lion mountain, and the town that grew up under the mountain – Lviv.
If  this story was real, or just imagination of the people, no one knows.  But a fact is that Lviv city fascinates anyone who at least once visited here.

Chocolate Heaven

L’viv can be called a chocolate city, since every you step you see various chocolate shops and you cannot pass by…chocolate is too delicious and aromatic…meeting the serious demands of even the most critical chocolate fans.¬†Legend has it that Chocolate from Lviv was well-known from the middle ages. In the 19th century, chocolate was exported from Lviv to aristocracy throughout Europe.

A Man in Chocolate Cage

Here you can find only hand-made chocolate, which is a bit more expensive, but it’s worth, trust me. On the ground floor of this chocolate shop you can even watch the process of its production. In my film devoted to L’viv you can see it through the glass windows. Everything is open for visitors.

Adam Mitskevitch Monument

Rose did not manage to melt Eros’s heart even with the help of huge dark chocolate bar, he was still silent and only answered her questions concerning their future work together. Unfortunately he showed his indifference and sometimes hostility towards her, which made Rose very upset. She did not get used to give up and she did not get used to refuses. Rose Spice was the young daughter of David Spice who adored and satisfied all her wishes, she has never heard any “no” answers in her life. Now she also felt that inexpugnable wall should be broken very soon…

Alive Bier

L’viv can be also called a brewing city…here you can taste a live beer almost at every corner.¬†Beer was brewed in Lviv since XV century and in 1533 Polish king has issued a decree allowing brewing beer in the city. Important role was also played by monasteries, where monks were brewing this wonderful drink from best hops, molt and pure artesian water. Owing to its quality Lviv beer shortly became popular in Austro-Hungarian Empire. And now in the time of Ukraine independence beer in Lviv doesn’t lose its legendary taste and quality and is popular among citizens and tourists.

Flower Clock

“Isn’t this clock beautiful,” babbled Rose and stopped next to it.

“Yes, maybe,” coldly replied Eros and turned his head. He looked at her once again as if he wanted to check whether she was a reality or a vision. Eros again felt himself not so well. Rose also turned and simply stare directly into his eyes. The tension between them could have been cut with a rusty knife. He saw a¬†curiosity¬†and¬†stubbornness¬†that leaped in her eyes, but he also saw a flicker of interest and gentleness. She was Amazon strength and beauty in her white suit. She was¬†gorgeous,¬†tempestuous¬†and hot. ¬†He felt that he lost his control…

Maybe…that’s all what you can say about this wonderful and charming flower clock, now I can really understand what a difficult time in office is waiting for me with such a cold, callous, aloof and¬†insensate¬†to any beauty man who…” Rose could not finish her sentence because her lips were quickly covered with his and he kissed the breath out of her…

Caramel World

You can make lot’s of window picture while walking L’viv streets. This is the pictures of the city made of caramel (boiled sweet). Have you every tasted it?¬†The first types of caramel were hard candies that date back to the 17th century. In America, the settlers cooked sugar and water together to make these sweet treats. Caramels were a candy staple for many years because the ingredients were affordable, they were easy to make at home and they had a long shelf life.

Opera House

If you did not see Opera House, it means you did not see L’viv, it’s the city cultural symbol.¬†If you ask someone who sight of architecture he\she likes the most, you will hear a certain answer that the Opera and Ballet theater named after Solomiya Krushelnytska is the one. Local people never stop saying that there are no even than the Opera is and it is one of the most beautiful not only in Europe but in the whole world.

L’viv is a very symbolic city of Western Ukraine. It does not look like any other Ukrainian city, it mostly looks like any other Western Europe city with many narrow streets like in Italy, typical architecture like in Poland and beer pubs like in Germany. You will not feel here like abroad, most probably you feel yourself here as cozy as at home. My advice to you to come here in autumn or winter when the tourist season is not so high and the city shows you its charm in full.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Yours Ann

Rose Message

Rose Flirts

Eros Clumsy has a birthday today. He is thirty-five years of age, he was already a mature man in his prime, however, his personal life was locked in his computer in his room on the second floor. He still lives with his mom who cares after him and cooks him delicious meals. His mom Dolly devoted her life to her only wished, boy. Dolly was left on the shelf far too long, she was quite obstinate and could not find a good man for her. When at last she met a man who conquered her heart, she had to wait for her baby to be brought by a stork. Finally, this day has come and she gave a birth to a very handsome baby with huge blue eyes and long black eyelashes (envy of all girls). Eros was a truly nice baby, she has never had any troubles with him. She and her husband Tom lived a happy and prosperous life. Dolly had everything she dreamt of – a big house and nice family. Tom was a pilot, so his salary let him to satisfy all wife’s wishes. Anything Dolly would like to have – she received almost at once: car, jewelry, clothes and etc. They were a couple like from a Hollywood film, their life was too perfect and happy….but not too long. From one of his flights Tom did not come back….he died in an airplane crash…Eros was only 16th and his life changed forever. He had to become a grownup and took care about his mom. Maybe this was the main reason of his choice to stay a bachelor, his life did not belong to him anymore. He cannot complain about lack of women’s’ attention in his early twentieth, however, girls liked his appearance and he was looking for his soul mate. He never considered a girl only as a pretty picture, Eros wanted to know a woman as another person and discover her inner world. Yet women did not give him such a chance. He gave up and started to get used to the idea of eternal bachelor. Hm, Eros was exactly not enough smart though and not farsighted, he has no idea that exactly this moment one crazy and passionate woman with a tricky name Rose was going to come….and make a big mess!

Rose Thinks

At this usual day, almost in the end, Eros got a very unusual message where a girl named Rose greeted him with his birthday and invited to meet tomorrow afternoon in the local park. Eros was so confused, frustrated and flabbergasted that he almost could not move, so in this pose he accidentally fell asleep and saw...

fRose's Soul

HER – a woman or a flower who befuddled him with its¬†smell that ¬†is thought to be relaxing and restorative because it encourages him to breath deeply and slowly. Eros found himself walking through paths full of ROSES of various colors and shapes…ROSES were breathtakingly beautiful…and soo mysterious…

Garden of Roses

“The rose is a legend in it‚Äôs own. The story goes that during the Roman empire, there was an incredibly beautiful maiden named Rhodanthe. Her beauty drew many zealous suitors who pursued her relentlessly. Exhausted by their pursuit, Rhodanthe was forced to take refuge from her suitors in the temple of her friend Diana. Unfortunately, Diana became jealous. And when the suitors broke down her temple gates to get near their beloved Rhodanthe she also became angry, turning Rhodanthe into a rose and her suitors into thorns.”

Rose Enjoys Sky

Eros made several unsteady steps further…suddenly the still afternoon had become more torpid than before. Even the insects in this rose garden had ceased their droning buzz. The air was so sweet, full of aromas. A butter-colored sun beat down on the earth, which released its heat in rising shimmer. It was like being in a perfumed sauna, only he was not naked…

Roses Fly

The father of Botany Theophrastus (371-286 BC) first classified and identified plants. In his classic books Enquiry into plants and De Causis Plantarum (The causes of plants) he wrote about a ‚Äúhundred-petaled rose‚ÄĚ and called it centifolia (literally: hundred petals).”

Rose Feels

“Why white roses are so special is no mystery ‚Äď it‚Äôs a myth. Perhaps it started with the Romans who believed white roses grew where the tears of Venus fell as she mourned the loss of her beloved Adonis. Myth also has it that Venus‚Äô son Cupid accidentally shot arrows into the rose garden when a bee stung him, and it was the ‚Äústing‚ÄĚ of the arrows that caused the roses to grow thorns. And when Venus walked through the garden and pricked her foot on a thorn, it was the droplets of her blood which turned the roses red.”

Roses in White

At that exact instant Eros caught a glimpse of her…again not sure a woman or a flower…tilting her head back she closed her eyes and let the sunlight spill across her face. She breathed deeply of the aromatic air, which was scented with delicious candies…

Roses Fall

She turned her head and looked at him directly…her stare was intense…his blue eyes looked more blue than usual reflecting the sky…

Roses in Color

He moved behind her, he tried to touch her hand…but wind blew his hand away…he could not touch and ensure that she was real…she seemed too perfect and so out-of-reach…and even if he could not touch her he felt so happy…

Roses in Yellow and White

Eros felt like the prince of the world. The sunlight painted stripes on her hair. He felt that light, so free. Joy bubbled from a feeling of a newfound friend…

Rose in Dream

Then he woke up…

Rose Drops

To be continued!

Fruity-Tutti That Are Healthy and Bright

Cherry Lady

It is believed that every man should build a house, plant a tree and father a son. I may assume that the same can be said about a woman as well. Do not you agree?¬†Planting a tree is a lifelong investment. We do not only make our planet greener, but also produce more oxygen, and it’s vital for everyone. We had an occasion to plant a cherry tree in my granny’s garden and now this summer tree pleased us with its first fruits. You can see the first picture! You cannot even imagine how happy we were to see it and taste it. You have no idea how sweet it was…was, because we have eaten it already. Yeah, I know it’s not good that I did not share it with you, bad girl!

You might recognize that I like gathering information almost about everything I make a picture of, so I could not resist the temptation to get to know more about this particular fruit. Did you know that the word ‘cherry’ comes from the Turkish town of Cerasus. Cherries are not only very beautiful and bright fruit, however, very healthy as well. As I read red cherries contain melatonin which helps to fight against harmful toxins. These fruits also contain a high level of antioxidants which are beneficial to the human body.¬†They also ensure the proper functioning of the body and help the immune system get stronger. Right now I understand why I like it so much, I confess I am a fan of sweet cherries, I can eat a half of kilo at once, they are very delicious.¬†

Fruit Piece

How do you like my fruit piece that I captured specially for you? Any comments? Does it look nice? Well, my
little apples are without a make-up, but trust me they are tasteful!

I live in a capital city and coming to the countryside gives me always a positive feedback. You can simply change the atmosphere to which you get used and discover something new, unknown for you. I know that life in the countryside is not so entertaining as well, since people should work hard in order to get good harvest. There are benefits and drawbacks of both lifestyles. A nice balance is possible if you are able to combine both, guess. So, when I have time I should escape from my lovely, but very noisy city, and grasp some fresh countryside air as well as taste juicy fruits.

Raspberries

However, before putting these delicious and colorful fruits to my mouth, I have to pick them up. I adore raspberries, they are very sweet, but gathering them is not so funny. Raspberries are grown in bushes , so when you gather them you have to dive into the forest of bushes where a lot of ants waiting to bite you. Or you may be “lucky” to meet some other, not too pretty, animals that usually live in these bushes. Anyway, everybody likes raspberries, but not everybody likes gathering them. Can you share your experience?

Nevertheless, let us enjoy raspberries and find out more about them.

Raspberries have been enjoyed by man since the times of cavemen. This berry is unique and fascinating, and has even worked its way into our popular culture. The word “raspberry” seems to come from the Old French raspise, a term meaning ‚Äúsweet rose-colored wine”.

Raspberries are sold and produced throughout the world, which has given rise to myths about why raspberries are red and even one myth about the magical qualities of the fruit.¬†a modern myth tells the story of how raspberries turned a fox’s fur red.¬† In the Tale of the Raspberry Fox, by Henning Buchhagen, there is a fox named Ferdinand.¬† At that time, all foxes were grey in colour.¬† The tale tells how Ferdinand didn’t like to eat meat, so one day he decided to eat some raspberries and discovered that he loved eating them.¬† He kept eating raspberries and the more he ate, the redder his fur became.¬† Ever since then, all foxes have had red fur and like to eat fruit.

Delicious raspberries are low in calories and fats. Raspberries are a wonderful source of vitamin C, containing 40 percent of a person’s daily needs. Raspberry contains anti-oxidant vitamins like vitamin A, and vitamin E.

I adore raspberry jam which is prepared in a very easy way. You just should add sugar to raspberries and bend it together, then put to small glass bowls and leave in a fridge. It is very yammi! I spread it on roll and eat it with milk or tea. Ohh, you should try it!!! Highly recommend!

Apricot

And then I found apricots. who do not like apricots? Many of my colleagues who are much older than me (age of my granny) usually confess that apricots are their favourite fruits, they can eat them till their tummies will be big like a balloon.

The apricot, discovered about 4,000 years ago in China, was introduced to the United States in the 18th century.¬†Greek mythology experts believe apricots are the ‚Äúgolden apples‚ÄĚ of Hesperides ‚ÄĒ the fruit Hercules was ordered to pick in the eleventh of his twelve labors.¬†In Latin, apricot means ‚Äúprecious‚ÄĚ. Indeed, my colleagues consider this fruit exactly precious, they are crazy about it. Maybe because they know that it was¬†long considered an aphrodisiac, huh, ladies…do you remember¬†A Midsummer Night‚Äôs Dream, and apricot was used as an inducer of childbirth as depicted in John Webster‚Äôs The Duchess of Malfi. Right now I see it very clearly. Ladies like apricots!!!

Moreover, apricots are regarded as a healthy source of Vitamins A and C. Vitamin A promotes eye and skin health, while Vitamin C helps boost the immune system. Apricots are also rich in beta-carotene and don’t contain any cholesterol or sodium.¬†

Dreaming of apricots, in English folklore, is said to be good luck. Wish you sweet apricot dreams this night!

Pear

I have no right to forget about pears, even if it is not their period yet. They are mostly green now, but when their time comes….hum….we cannot resist not to eat juicy pears as soon as we pick them from a tree. And here I should again boast about planting a pear tree, which is ready to produce its first babies.¬†

Chinese people believe that sharing of pear may disturb relationship between friends or lovers. Pears are a symbol of immortality in China. Well, I do not live in China, but I can feel they are pretty right about it.

Pears were important part of diet in ancient Greece and remedy for nausea. Greek poet Homer described pears as “gifts of the gods”.¬†

Have you ever smoked pears? Nope…well, then you are a looser….kidding…pear leaves were used for the preparation of cigarettes, before tobacco became popular. So, my dear fans of unhealthy¬†cigarettes¬†– maybe it’s time you gave up smoking “who knows what” and start smoking healthy pear leaves…

Pears contain anti-oxidants, dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals. Eating pears helps maintain a healthy immune system. Pears help treat hypertension. I can see only benefits and you? How do you like pears?

Blackberries

Finally, I cannot finish my story without currants, a Queen among healthy fruits. This fruit is not so sweet as previously mentioned, but very healthy.

Being a rich source of several antioxidant minerals, regular intake of raw red currant fruit helps in the detoxification of your body as well as in the elimination of the free radicals produced as a result of biochemical reactions in the body. Red currants as a great food to add to your skin care diet. Red currant helps control blood pressure by regulating the circulatory system, and thereby reduces the risk of heart attack and other coronary disorders.

Black currants have extraordinarily high vitamin C content, good DV levels of dietary fiber, potassium, phosphorus, iron, and vitamin B5; and a broad range of other essential nutrient. If you catch a cold in winter, there is nothing better than a tea with black currant, it helps to fight with high temperature and microbes. I tested it on myself. So, I always prepare a package of black currant and leave it frozen in my freezer. And you?

Have a nice weekend!
