Above Me Are the Alps

DSCN2608

My dear Friends,

Above me are the Alps and I found the way to get to them. I have never thought that I might be lack of right words to describe my feelings…but the time I saw them I couldn’t whisper a sound. I felt that mountains live in me, they are my vital part, I cannot live without them. John Muir said “We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us.” Lord Byron could not resist the beauty of Alps, so do I…

My thoughts are not gathered yet, I am like that castle in the center of the most beautiful and I am ready for a plunge…

Have a wonderful and inspiring week!

Love you all,

IT SPEAKS IN SILENCE TO THE VERY CORE OF YOUR BEING

No matter how sophisticated you may be, a large granite mountain cannot be denied – it speaks in silence to the very core of your being” (Ansel Adams)

These mountains, my mountains, my Western Ukrainians mountains do speak to the very core of my being.

Geographically playing I dare to divide my country in four parts: eastern, western, northern and southern. I live in the Northern, while my heart usually drifts to the Western  with its rich nature and most gorgeous views ever. No matter how many times I do come back there, I still find something hidden, something captivating and new.  And this time while traveling there I found myself so attracted to these fantastic mountains that I lost my wish to come back even. The emotions caught me and would not like to leave. I was happy and so free as never and anywhere in my life. There in the middle of the field between these cute little flowers I felt myself so good and so right like I do belong to be there. Odd and confusing feeling, yet so lovely one – to find your place, the place where your heart and soul sing, where you enjoy every second and where nothing bothers you from that perfect harmony with nature and complete dissolve in it. There is so less I need, just this peaceful island where nobody can find me. My mountains will protect me from anything bad and they will accompany me in my search of silence. It does important to enjoy silence, sometimes words are not required. Mountains, powerful and unknown nature gifts can read between the lines of my soul. You just look at them and see their silent response. That is all you need. That is all I need:

What does speak to the core of your very being? Where is your island?

I believe my little film will bring you joy and peace and will make your week special!

Love you all,

Yours Film Director

Kyiv in Christmas Postcards

My city, Kyiv, is especially beautiful in pre-Christmas white season. Though every city (or village) takes its best sparkling outfit on during winter holidays. Don’t know which color in trend this season, but white seems to be still popular. I am looking out of my window and admire fluffy snowflakes dancing in the frosty air. Lady Winter has landed in Kyiv and covered everything with snow carpets.

Love is the Dawn of Marriage, and Marriage is the Sunset of Love

When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator.” ~Mohandas Gandhi

1

Though my photo equipment is pretty modest I managed to capture several breathtaking sunsets presented by this Fall. We all are busy nowadays and any opportunity to look up is being treasured. At one of the evening strolls I caught several pictures of splashy pallette that made me wonder whether there is yet anything more beautiful. I am sure that nature will never stop surprising me.

The setting sun, and the music at the close, As the last taste of sweets, is sweetest last, Writ in rememberance more than long things past.” ~William Shakespeare

2

Aw, Will, your fantastic ability to give your observations a poetic touch is overwhelming. Both the picture (made by a very modest photographer) and the quote (written by the talented poet) make me enjoy the life. Such divine moments exactly help me understand why life is so wonderful. I almost hear “It’s a Beautiful Life” in my ears. Don’t you? I will ask to add music button below.

When do you think the Sun has completely set? Think a bit….Who said that?

3

The Earth’s air bends the image of the Sun upward, so we can still see the Sun even though it is physically below the horizon. The light is bent upward by just about the same size as the Sun, so when the lower limb of the Sun just kisses the horizon it’s actually already set. I confess I am not that smart, the answer I found in one of the magazines! But maybe you know that without a hint!

Do not forget to look at the sky today, tomorrow, always, and you might be impressed with what you see. Probably time will stop and your eyes can admire the view…just like now!

In case you are interested my Sunset Collection is available at my shop: http://www.redbubble.com/people/anrostudio?ref=artist_title_name

Wish you many beautiful sunsets! Let me know if you watch sunset this night!

Take care,

Yours Ann

The Best of Summer

“Summertime is always the best of what might be.” (Charles Bowdan)

Recalling summer days is the most rewarding activity. It brings a broad smile to my face and a playful sparkle to my eyes. I felt a surge to reproduce the best of my summer and demonstrate it to you. I do miss my summer. It occurred to me that I did not say goodbye to the hot season when everything or anything is possible. So now let me tell you, dear Miss Summer, a couple of warm words.

anro-presents

“Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to quiet people. For those few months, you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are, and that cut-grass smell in the air and the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool give you a courage you don’t have the rest of the year. You can be grateful and easy, with no eyes on you, and no past. Summer just opens the door and lets you out.” ―Deb Caletti

Summer does open the door to the brightest world ever. There you can enjoy the longest days and shortest nights, you can taste a variety of fruits and vegetables, and you can relax and let yourself being silly. Sometimes summer might be a bit wearisome due to extremely high temperatures that drank the water from our bodies. During such period our brain melts and we feel not so happy. All we need then is to leave everything and escape to some perfect place where the body and mind will dance in harmony.

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”―John Lubbock

The place for being idle found me and I could not resist its beauty and calmness. My feet freely walked on the grass, between apple trees and flowers. My eyes caught the joyful glimpses of sunrise and sunset. My hands touched the gifts of the generous season. My mind was emptied from any thoughts. Or perhaps these thoughts were so natural that they were invisible or unreadable. A pretty awesome feeling when your mind is easy and light as a summer butterfly.

“But when fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you.”― Stephen King

As Far As Close

Pine Greens

http://www.redbubble.com/people/anrostudio/works/22546490-pine-greens

I want to stand as close as I can to many things and be able to notice even the tiniest detail. Often it’s the details that together make a magnificent whole. In this picture the magnificent whole is the mountain covered with snow and awakened green grass, and the detail is the branch of a pine tree that is visible only in zooming. There is a big distance between them, they are as far and as close – two creations of Mother Nature. Only mountains are big enough to be caught, while a little branch is enough small to be overlooked. Similar to life. Due to daily problems circling around “how to earn, where to spend less” we miss a lot of things that are right in front of us. For instance, this little branch of pine tree whose green color touches up the picture of our being! Friends, let us not miss the details and enjoy everything that is so far and so close as well! For example, my Friday card designed specially for you! Give me a hint if you like it! Grateful in advance!

“Life is not a plot; it’s in the details.”

Why Do You Like Summer?

Summertime_word.jpg

I felt that I did not pay enough attention to her Ladyship Summer, I guess it’s because I am not on vacation yet. Now time to talk about summer and bring to mind why do we all like summer? Or perhaps not all of you like this hottest, craziest and sunniest period. Do not be shy, any opinion is welcome!

When Ann and Mountains Meet

Mountains Forest

It’s not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” (Sir Edmund Hillary)

Everybody has its own mountain to conquer, so does Ann. How high it is? She did not know until she faced this one. The highest she has ever imagined. As if this Mountain has eyes, it would look at her and think “Hey, you are so small there!”. It would be right to compare this Mountain with her Dream, they are both impossible to reach. They are both too distant and powerful, Ann feels so tiny next to them and yet so devoted to. They both have a huge control over her life and her being. They dictate their rules and invade her space. Ann cannot be perfectly content without both of them. She will suffer a lot and still enjoy its sweet meeting with her Teachers of Life…

“Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and wise people. Everything – even mountains, rivers, plants and trees – should be your teacher.” (Morihei Ueshiba)

Let us go out and learn something new today!

My best Friday wishes and postcard for you: http://www.redbubble.com/people/anrostudio/works/22545179-mountains-forest?p=greeting-card&card_size=postcard

P.S. Have you ever met the Mountains?
