Delightful Poppy Seeds

” Be quick!” exclaimed I and hastily inserted my lenses to the camera. Fortunately, the weather promised to be sunny and not too hot, thus I had good light conditions to shoot poppy seeds. They were gracefully turning their heads to my camera in modest attempts to show their most attractive bends. Through my viewfinder I spotted their delicate fringe petals that were easily blown away.  Only their fluffy turbine-like heads were curiously casting a glance at you. It was tempting to make a closeup in black and white, there is something intriguing in all colorless pictures. It helps the photographer to go back in time when there was no alternative to black and white images. Do not click endlessly, just take delight in capturing the scenes. Maybe I am lack of technical skills, but I am in ecstasies about photographing the beauty surrounding us!

A Picnic IS More Than…

“A picnic is more than eating a meal, it is a pleasurable sate of mind.”
DeeDee Stovel

Isn’t it deliciously said, my dear little Friends,

Who is with me for a picnic today?

There is nothing more delightful than a BBQ in a good company, right? Where did you go for a picnic last time?

You know I thought that sometimes we should get out of homes and social networks, we have to switch off our laptops and phones and throw then out of our busy minds. And why not to invite people to share with them your Sunday picnic!

The concept of the picnic dates back more than 250 years when it was considered to be a big event in the social calendar where the guests contributed food to the party. Now picnics get a more personal meaning. We love going out for picnics with our families and friends.

The word ‘picnic’ can be traced back to French roots almost a century after it was first seen in French originating from the word ‘pique-nique.’

The form of the picnic basket has evolved over the years to transform from a simple woven wicker basket to house more complicated features like separate hot and cold compartments, a detachable blanket for picnics and even a wine chiller. Nowadays, our picnic baskets look differently. Surely, we can put there some meat or fish and mostly vegetables with some beverages to refresh under hot summer sun. Yet I hope picnics are not so much for food joy as for the joy of being together and spend time with people whom you care for. Such a hectic lifestyle requires some unity with nature and your loved ones in calmer surroundings. Why not to grab some fishrods as well and impress your family with freshly caught fish that can be grilled with seasonings, hmm, I can nose the smell…yam. There is nothing perfect than a sip of tea  while watching the sunset over the river on the blanket! Such moments cannot be bought or found at social networks, they are real not virtual ones! Let’s treasure and enjoy them!

Happy Mother’s Day

Flowers-5

Dear Mothers,

This gentle tulip I am presenting you today with the warmest hugs and wishes! Today in Ukraine we celebrate this special day and I couldn’t resist writing a couple of words on this lovely holiday!

Flowers-6

Early Mother’s Day celebrations can be dated back to the spring celebrations to honor Rhea, the Mother of the Gods, in ancient Greek civilization, according to some sources.

The modern-day origins of Mother’s Day can be attributed to two women – Julia Ward Howe and Anna Jarvis, who were important in establishing the tradition in the United States.

I am grateful to these women who paid a special attention towards such an important even as honoring our mothers. Our mothers are the most important people for us, they devoted their lives to us and the least we can do is tell them a huge THANK YOU and give them the tightest HUG!

Whenever it’s celebrated in your country, please visit your moms and tell them how much you love them!

Love you all,

Yours A

April in Flowers

My dear Friends,

What can be better than a new day with beautiful flowers smiling at you? April is in bloom and we cannot miss a new life. Every year spring comes differently (i mean weather calendar) and the first blossoms makes people as happy as babies. Being outdoor helps us forget about our worries and problems, and just switch off the brain. My heart jumps in pure delight when I spot the first crocuses. Don’t know why, but these little cuties are my favorite. Every flower has its charm, but these babes make me melt like an ice-cream. They are among the first ones after cold winter days. They are also not so easily found, but it makes them even more attractive to me. I treasure the minutes I saw them and press the button of my camera to capture their beauty.

How lovely to have a walk today and capture the perfect first blooming images! Life cannot be more colorful!

Hope you are happy today!

Thank you for walking with me today!

All the images are available for sale at shutterstock and at gallery!

Love you all!

Enjoy the first blooms!

Yours A

International Day of Happiness

Dear Friends,

Have you every heard of the International Day of Happiness?

The International Day of Happiness was introduced by the General Assembly of the United Nations during 2012 and was celebrated for the first time in 2013.

The original idea came from the Kingdom of Bhutan in the Himalayan region of Asia. There, the population is thought by many to be among the happiest in the world due to the holistic approach to life and the amount of importance which is placed on the well being of people and communities, as much as material wealth.

I guess it is a good reason to stop for a moment and think about what is happiness? You may find the answer at once or think of it for a longer time. But it seems to me that happiness is when you feel yourself happy no matter of anything. Hell with everything, I am happy today to share my recent photoworks (a good reason to make this day special and order a canvas here pictorem):

A Little Village

AnRoalisticBlog top story

I happened to pay a visit to a little village at the river…

Begin.jpg

The local Hungarians who are lucky to live at the north bank of Danube always said: “Visegrad has the castle, but Nagymaros has the view”.  I totally agree with it.

Nagymaros Photos at Shutterstock

The ferry between Nagymaros and Visegrád, which is in service since May 1890, brought me to the opposite side of Danube. I confess I enjoyed this little river voyage and could not resist making several pictures. The port building – where the restaurant Maros is settled now -was built at the beginning of the 20th century by the shipping company.

Second.jpg

A first reference to the village is in a document from the 13th century when the king joined it to Visegrád, one of the royal residential centers of those days. Today Nagymaros with its more than 4 000 inhabitants and its infrastructure functions as a small center of the area between Vac (the next bigger town) and the Slovakian border.

Every village or city has its main square, Nagymaros is of no exception. FŐ TÉR (or main square in English) looks now almost as 150 years ago. The only missing element in its architectural look, as I heard, is the Casino with a restaurant and hotel rooms, which was destroyed in 1944.

Third New.jpg

I read that the Gothic tower (built in 1509) of the Roman Catholic Church is the only  monument in the Danube bend, which remained from the Middle-Ages. It has its saint who is St Martin, the bishop of Tours (France). He was born in the 4th century in the western part of today’s Hungary and he has been always a very popular saint among Hungarian Catholics. Church is closed, so you may take a look at it only.

At the end of my trip around the village I spotted a charming gallery and cafe where I ordered a cup of aromatic cappuccino. There were not too many people, so I chose the table at the terrace where I could enjoy warm sunny weather. I felt happy while sitting at this home-like cafe sipping my sweet drink.

Thank you for joining me!

Did you travel recently? Where have you been? What did you see?

I’d love to hear from you!
