See Ukraine Through My Eyes (Advertising My Book)

BackgroundHello, my dear Friends,

Hope you are doing well and enjoy this weekend. Sunday has arrived and I cannot leave you without fresh food for your brain. In case you have a free minute and wish to relax, why not to read this little excerpt from my book, which is waiting to be finished by its always-busy author, and let me know what do you think about it:

BEING UKRAINIAN
The talk about Ukrainians as a nation requires an insight into our past. Ukrainian mentality was influenced by many factors: geographical location, specific climatic conditions, and tragic historical destiny. We have been known as hard-working, thrifty, skilled farmers emotionally attached to their land and family. It is historically proven that Ukrainians are Aryan descendants. Are not you impressed? Recently, Germans have made a serious DNA research, which confirms that Aryans were our ancestors, and also proved the fact that Ukrainians and Russian HAVE NEVER BEEN BROTHERS. We have different DNA genes. I knew it!
In Ukrainian culture there are a lot of elements related with the ancient Indo-European tribes – nomadic cattle-breeder, who called themselves “aryans”. They occupied the current terrains of Ukraine. Aryan soldiers similar to Ukrainian kosaks wear the same hair style, i.e. head is shaved with only one tuft of hair remaining. Also, Aryans were known to wear a battle waistband with different weapons. This waistband is still used in traditional clothing of Western Ukraine.

And now let us have a look at the modern Ukrainian. Ukrainians have always treasured a realistic look at life. We are mostly not given to artificiality. Ukrainians do not follow the rule of “a plastic smile” at their faces. Only natural feelings are stamped on our faces. Instead, our passions burn low but strong and steady. There is tendency to fall into moods; we may be sad, then suddenly burst with unabated optimism and infectious vitality. Our sense of humor is bitingly ironical. Surprisingly, the Ukrainian proverb “simplicity is not a sin” (direct translation) can serve us as an innocent excuse and who will argue about that. You cannot be sinful if your attitude towards things is just simple, without any second thoughts. You just follow your instincts and act according to your mind and heart. There is nothing bad – we are the children of Mother Nature. These features are reflected in typical Ukrainian character. In case you know the author of this book, then you are likely to have observed them. This book written by her is the most appealing fact…

To be written further…

Have a great Sunday and lovely forthcoming week! Appreciate every minute and smile!

Love you all,

Yours Writer

My Friend’s Book

Hello, my dear Friends,

I hope your summer days go well and you enjoy hot July weather. It is quite hot in the Eastern Europe and I am melting like a pineapple ice-cream.

Today is not my planned post, but there is a good reason to write it. One of my very dear friend, Monica, share with me wonderful news about her new book release. I was honored to read it, however, I failed to write a review on Amazon due to strict requirements of 50$ total purchase history. I confess I did not do shopping at Amazon. I tried several tricks, however, could not find the way to bypass the rules. I really wanted to help my fellow writer, since I know how much it means to her. Not everything depends on me. There is only one way how I can still share my opinion on her work:

CARRYING ALL THE WOUNDS IN MY SMILE is an inside look at what goes on behind the smile of every teenager. The book answers the question of what it is like to be a teenager in the 21st century where everything goes wrong. The author, Monica Pana, opens the doors to her very emotional and beautiful world of adolescence.

Everyone was a teenager, but not everyone faced the same problems. Teenage problems can be different, and yet they are very special. Today this problem becomes even more crucial. Teenagers are left to themselves along with Internet and cruel world where the stronger dictates the rules. A boy or a girl is trapped and often is tet-a-tet with her/his own emotions. Usually emotions are put into words scribbled secretly in their diaries. Monica gives us a unique chance to peep into our own teenager’s diary or even deeper. After Blue Whale invasion into young lives, any insight into teenagers’ thoughts is more than welcoming, do not you think so?

The book begins with the description of controversial feelings arise in our childhood. Later the author raises sensitive issues such as love, optimism, lie, destroy, honesty and parenthood. Page by page the reader finds himself involved in the philosophical and uneasy conversation with his/her soul. People hardly think of these things nowadays. Life for most of them is a constant wheel. The author stirs up a hornet’s nest. The important issues are written aloud, and the reader is in search of the right answer. Chapters about life experience, family and love bring smile and make you think again. An intimate chat between the author and the reader, yet you can not be sure, they both think the same. Every word or phrase is written by the author’s heart and soul, there was a trio, or there was the only voice whispering in the silence of thoughts, decision is yours!

It is difficult not to like the author with her emotional and thought-provoking style. The structure of the book is similar to a diary or a blog, which gains popularity nowadays. Also while the author answers many questions, she invites even more. The book provides a valuable and absorbing window into the 21st century teenage head that is for most of us inaccessible. A very young, but ambitious, girl dared to speak her own truth and she deserves to be read.

More information on this book and the author can be found at her website https://lookaround99.wordpress.com/2017/07/09/adolescence-trapped-between-two-worlds/

“A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition. Like money, books must be kept in constant circulation… A book is not only a friend, it makes friends for you. When you have possessed a book with mind and spirit, you are enriched. But when you pass it on you are enriched threefold.

As Cool as Cucumber

Hello, my dear Friends,

Today is Sunday and many of you get your pretty bodies out…I guess you are not in front of your computer screens now. And this is very right, weekend is the time to relax with  bodies and souls. I was also out, thus could not prepare a new Sunday Series video.  “Oh, no!” somebody of you will say…but do not be in despair, I’ve prepared something delicious for you,  I beg you pardon, something cool! Cucumber-4

Cool cucumbers dropped in for the summer photo session to me. I was taken aback by their willingness and serious interest in presenting their shapes as best as possible. They are very different from human models. Not so capricious, not so demanding (no private massage, no diamonds left afterwards, etc) and very easy-going. They can turn to any sides and take any pose. What a delight!

Cucumber-2Their road to our tables was a very long one. Foreigners from India captured our vegetable world quickly and painless. We happily met them and quickly sliced  to our salads. Also we found an approach to them and persuaded  to reproduction. Awareness that there can be more little cucumbers at our tables brought peace to our minds and welcoming sounds from our stomachs. Cucumbers are so delicious and useful to be neglected as very healthy vegetables (though in some countries they are regarded as fruits, lol). Just chewing them makes us loose calories and wash our bodies with the water filtered through their veins. No wonder the feeling is great when we apply cucumber slices to bruises under our pretty swollen eyes.Cucumber-5

Cucumbers are familiar to every Ukrainian. As an agricultural country we harvest cucumbers every year and try to supply every home with juicy and crunchy taste. However, last several years Ukrainians faced problems growing them. Due to global warming and raise of ozone layer climate in our country has drastically been changed. Our always rich soil has been conquered by many pests and lack of rain. Consequently, we harvest less cucumbers every year, which automatically rises the prices at the markets. Unfortunately, farmers use their methods to fight against it. As a result, cucumbers may be not free from nitrates that turns this veggie to not useful one. What a shame!

Cucumber-6

Cucumbers are great in salads, smoothies and by themselves, but many people are discovering that along with all of the above benefits, cucumber water is a healthy, refreshing beverage. This treat used to be found at spas but is fast becoming mainstream.

Cucumber-8

As to Ukrainian cuisine, cucumbers dance together with tomatoes. We have never been warned that cucumbers and tomatoes are not compatible. None of us ever thought that such beautiful red and green colors are not in tandem, even more when they reach the stomach and the process of fermentation starts, the acid released in the abdominal cavity for digestion can cause numerous digestive problems. Who would have thought? Tons of such mix has been consumed and probably will be more no matter of sound aftereffects. We still love it!

Cucumber-11

Did you get used to pile cucumbers? Do not do it again. Eating cucumbers with the peel provides the maximum amount of nutrients. And their peel is so crispy! Cucumbers can be eaten fresh or pickled. They can be enjoyed as a  snack or used to add flavor in a variety of dishes. If you have a Ukrainian friend or you have ever been to any Ukrainian home, you know that Ukrainians cook a lot of home tins with pickled cucumbers. Receipts can be different as well as tastes, however, there is nothing better than to open a tin of your cucumbers at cold winter days.

Cucumber-9

July is the high season for cucumbers. You must have cucumbers at your gardens. They are very gracefully growing with the yellow flower first. Later you can spot a cute baby cucumber who grows as fast as sun kisses its head. Growing them can help you release your stress and improve your daily life. They are very healthy and photogenic! I believe my photo session was pretty successful. Thank you for my models and thank you!

Do you have cucumbers in your menu today? No, then I am coming to you! Ha-ha!

Have July Sunday!
